We Are the Progeny of Electricity, 2016
I provided Montreal artistic duo, Projet-EVA, multiple soundscapes and vocal excerpts for this interactive multimedia theatre performance. While wearing a helmet that projected imagery onto their faces, a disembodied voice would tell them to perform acts and answer contentious questions, all while accompanied by an eerie soundtrack.
#spalife, 2016
In response to the re-emergence of new-age healing techniques, such as sensory deprivation tanks, I created what I call an "sensory over-stimulation coffin". I was inspired by Slavoj Zizek's commentary on what he calls "Western Buddhism" and the film Altered States from 1980.
Participants would lay in a tank line with a thin layer of water covered by industrial vapour barrier while being confronted with varying intensities of light and sound. The intensity of the LED strobe and audio is sympathetic to the state of the participant. The participants holds on to two metal bars that detect the change in resistance of current caused by the increase in surface area of their hands. The more agitated the person is, the more intense the tank behaves.
